So, lately my summer has been boring. The most exciting thing has been the wisdom teeth surgery. Not that that's exciting, it's just more interesting than the rest of my summer. Marching band is going to be starting back soon. What fun. =\ I'm really kind of apprehensive about this year. We are going to Grand Nationals and while this is a great thing, I don't want NLHS to change who we are as a band to conform to what the judges there want us to be. It just kind of reminds me of society these days. NLHS has been a noncomforist marching band since the school opened and I'm not ready for that to change, although it seems that it has already begun to do so. =( Well, I'm an officer this year again. I'm a flute section leader. I applied for WW Captain. Still not sure why I didn't get it but I'm appreciative of what I have and I'm not going to complain about it. I started taking flute lessons for the first time in a bout a year and a half. I'm a little nervous about it. I think the teacher is really nice and she's a good flute player but I'm a little worried about her teaching style. I really want to take my playing to the "next level". Tonight is going to be my second lesson with her and I'm going to finish out the month and possibly the year. If it doesn't work out, I'll have to find someone else. I really, really need someone to take from being a "good player" to an "amazing player". While I think that my strongest point is my tone(which is actually a very good thing. Tone quality is the foundation of being a good instrument player. You don't have the tone, you don't have the skills. That's just the way it is, I'm afraid.), my technique still has much room for improvement. I mean, I think my technique is good. It's gotten me through Wind Ensemble for two semesters. This year, I started playing ALMOST every note. I want to be the kind of player that doesn't "almost" do it; I want to actually do it. I'm just trying to prepare myself for college. I feel really behind since I started playing my freshmen year rather than in 6th/7th grade like most of the players in our band.
Well, I think my ramblings have come to an end. I'm really tired(not sure why) and my brain feels like it's being sucked dry. :) Josh and I have been dating for almost 4 months(it'll be 4 months on the 28th). Can you believe it's been that long already? It doesn't feel like it but I'm enjoying every moment. :)
